What a gorgeous patina of golden brass on this old metal shell-shaped soap dish! It was once nickel plated, but much of the plating has worn off, showing the brass underneath. This could be reused as intended (with a sealer or new plating), or repurpose it to hold change, rings, or other small treasures. Items shown are not included.

This wonderful old dish came out of the Hotel Love in Purcell, Oklahoma (see history below). I believe this would have been mounted in a corner, probably above a little corner sink. Four screwholes (no screws). Dish is approx. 4-3/8 inches wide (at front) and would project out from wall approx 3-3/4 inches. As shown in photos, this old dish has had a lot of wear, but is still structurally sound.

The sixty-three-room Hotel Love was constructed in 1895 and opened for business in March of 1896. One of the finest hotels in the Chickasaw Nation, Hotel Love, "The Pride of Purcell ...was superior to anything of its kind in the Indian Territory." In 1900 Hotel Love was a brick building three stories high and combined all the modern conveniences of an up-to-date hotel: steam heat, electric lights, and rooms were $2 a night. It was once a favorite place for newlyweds to spend their honeymoon. Of the many hotels constructed in Purcell between 1887 and 1901, only the Hotel Love is still in existence today. The Hotel Love was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995. In 1982 the building was purchased by Jerry and Elaine Butler, who operate an antique shop on the first two floors.

Refunds

As veraviola sells almost exclusively vintage & antique items, it is likely nothing will be "like new." I strive to mention any wear, soiling or flaws. However, since condition is often subjective, I will also do my best to provide very detailed photos for your examination. But please contact me with any problems or concerns ~ I do want your experience with Vera Viola to be memorable in a good way!

Jewelry is sold on an 'as is' basis, so please ask any questions before purchasing. I provide multiple photos and a detailed description.

Please convo me immediately with your reason if you are wanting to return any purchase. Buyer is responsible for return postage. The item would need to be shipped via a tracked, insured method AND received back by me in its original condition and original packaging within 14 days of the transaction (domestic orders). If these conditions are met, I will then refund the payment (less the original shipping charge) - the exception being layaways (please see layaway policy in the "additional information" section).

Additional

While my home is smoke & pet free, please remember that the items I sell lived somewhere else for many years before they came home with me! Also, as a rule, I generally just dust off the items and send them on their way. I do not clean, polish or scour away sticker residue. I leave that to the new buyer.
